ABOUT

Mentored by Carl Faure and Calli Poppham at Stretch London and yoga icon Ana Forrest in Berlin. Laura combines playful and flowing Vinyasa sequences with a strengthening and grounding Forrest Yoga practice. An emphasis on anatomy and alignment, as well as the kinaesthetic experience of her hands on assists are significant for her teaching style and pave the way to a more holistic body and mind awareness.
Her classes combine an internally focused practice with a modern and holistic approach of a physically intense yoga practice, aiming to carry a transformative experience off the mat and into daily life. She likes to incorporate the voice in her classes, using healing vocalization exercises to find grounding and to let go. Laura encourages her students to find gracefulness through elements of contemporary dance to find the beauty of transition, exploring lightness and integrity in every single breath and movement. Using her experience as a jazz musician and performing artist, she wants to transmit playfulness and flexibility through yoga. Her aim is to hold the space for her students, encouraging them to go into the unknown, to explore, to learn and to accept.

''As a singer my body is my source of resonance and sound. Practicing yoga is a wonderful way to explore it in a truthful way. It gives me access to deeper layers of awareness and helps me to be in the present moment. While teaching singing and working with my students on vocal techniques, I started to implement yoga in my classes to cultivate a good posture and vice versa. The link between relaxation and breath work became obvious to me and opened new perspectives and possibilities.''
YOGA AND VOICE
BREATH WORK. SOUND HEALING. BODY AWARENESS.
Singing is a holistic approach to the body. Most children are born with a perfectly functioning vocal mechanism; without thinking about it they have the ability to produce sounds of great volume and brilliance.
Because the body works as a whole - with expansive support and antagonistically lengthening muscles, the rib cage is absolutely unconstricted, the throat is perfectly open and the diaphragm moves freely. How many adults or grown ups maintain this ability without tiring their voice?
Are you aware of your resonance cavities and the sonority of your authentic voice?
